Moderation
ATProtoFans gives you control over who can interact with you on the platform. Both supporters and creators can use moderation tools to manage their experience.
Accessing Moderation Settings
- Log in to your ATProtoFans account
- Go to Moderation Settings
Block Types
ATProtoFans supports two types of blocks:
Notification Blocks
Blocks email notifications from specific identities. Use this when:
- You want to stop receiving emails about a particular person's activity
- You don't want to completely prevent someone from interacting with you
- You're getting unwanted notification spam
When you block notifications from someone, you'll no longer receive emails when they support you or interact with your profile. They can still view your profile and support you—you just won't be notified.
Interaction Blocks
Blocks access to your profile and support page. Use this when:
- You want to prevent someone from viewing your profile
- You want to stop someone from supporting you
- You need stronger protection from harassment
When you block interactions from someone, they cannot view your ATProtoFans profile or access your support page. This is the stronger of the two block types.
How to Block Someone
Single Identity
- Go to Moderation Settings
- Enter the handle (e.g.,
@user.bsky.social) or DID (e.g.,did:plc:abc123) in the text area - Select the block type (Notifications or Interactions)
- Click Add Block(s)
Multiple Identities
You can block multiple identities at once:
- Go to Moderation Settings
- Enter multiple handles or DIDs in the text area, separated by:
- Commas:
@user1.bsky.social, @user2.bsky.social - Spaces:
@user1.bsky.social @user2.bsky.social - New lines (one per line)
- Commas:
- Select the block type
- Click Add Block(s)
This is useful for bulk importing a block list.
Removing Blocks
- Go to Moderation Settings
- Find the block in your list
- Click the Remove button
- Confirm the removal
Once removed, the identity can interact with you again according to normal platform rules.
Viewing Your Blocks
Your current blocks are displayed on the Moderation Settings page. Each block shows:
- The blocked identity (handle or DID)
- The block type (Notifications or Interactions)
- When the block was created
The list is paginated if you have many blocks.
Important Notes
Blocks Are Private
Your block list is private. Blocked users are not notified that they've been blocked.
ATProtocol Is Public
While ATProtoFans respects your blocks, remember that ATProtocol data is public by design. Blocked users could potentially view your public ATProtocol records through other means (other apps, direct API access, etc.). ATProtoFans blocks control the experience on our platform specifically.
Blocks Don't Delete Existing Records
If someone has already supported you before you blocked them, their existing supporter records remain in your repository. Blocks prevent future interactions, not past ones.
Handle Changes
Blocks are stored by DID (the permanent identifier), not by handle. If someone changes their handle, your block remains effective.
For Supporters
As a supporter, you can use moderation to:
- Block notifications from creators you've supported but no longer want updates from
- Block interactions if you want to prevent specific creators from viewing your supporter activity
For Creators
As a creator, moderation is especially important for:
- Managing unwanted attention from specific users
- Preventing harassment
- Controlling who can appear in your supporter list
- Stopping notification spam
Consider using interaction blocks for serious issues and notification blocks for minor annoyances.
Reporting Serious Issues
Moderation tools help you control your own experience, but if you encounter serious harassment, abuse, or illegal content, please contact us. Some issues may require platform-level action beyond personal blocks.
